Sweetheart Spaghetti Dinner

Members of Elizabeth Forward Band Boosters, high school indoor percussion, guard and majorettes and the middle school guard and majorettes are preparing for a Sweetheart Spaghetti Dinner fund-raiser Feb. 11 from 4-7 p.m. at Central Highlands Community Methodist Church, 100 Timothy Drive, Elizabeth Township. Tickets, $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 and younger, include

spaghetti, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage. Takeout is available and tickets will be available at the door. Preparing for the dinner, from left, are Rob Platte, Alex Poremba, chairperson JoAnn Leshen, Layna Reinhart and Tori Jackson.

January Booster Meeting

The EFHS Band Boosters will hold their regular January meeting on Monday (1/16/2012) at 7pm in the high school band room. Topics of discussion will include the upcoming spaghetti dinner and the trip to Disney.

Family and friends of the EFHS Band are encouraged to attend.

Spaghetti Dinner ~ Important Message

Band Parents:

It is that time again, for the
band to have their annual February spaghetti dinner. The dinner will be
on Saturday, February 11th at the Central Highlands
church from 4-7pm.

The pastor of the church has given
us permission to have a Chinese Auction and a 50/50 included with the dinner,
so if you have a spare basket lying around your basement or garage, we are
asking that you donate it to the band, some will be used at the dinner and the
others will be used at the indoor show.

As in the past, we would like each
family to supply a cutable dessert for the dinner.

And, in an effort to maximize the
profit the band will realize from the dinner without raising the cost of the
dinner tickets, we are asking for your support to help defray some of the
costs. We are asking that each family donate $5 to help with the paper
products – the money can be given to Mr. Turpin or Stephanie no later than
February 1st or bring your money and basket to the booster meeting on Monday,
January 16 at 7:00 – there will be a brief discussion of the dinner included in
the meeting.

ideas are welcome to help make this fundraiser a huge success. Please

Spaghetti Dinner Among Topics for Meeting

There will be a meeting of the EFHS Band Boosters on Monday (1/16/2012) at 7pm in the high school band room. Among topics of discussion will be: The Disney Trip and the upcoming Spaghetti Dinner.

Anyone interested in helping at the spaghetti dinner is encouraged to attend.

DISNEY TRIP UPDATE: From Mr. Turpin

Marching Band:

Please remember that the final
Disney payment is due to your area parent by Sunday, January
15th. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS!!!! We HAVE to get the money
to Disney the next day. If you do not have your balance of the Disney trip paid
by December 15th, we will be forced to pass along a late fee to you! I do not
want to do that, but we have very strict deadlines and we cannot be late on this
payment. If you cannot get to your area parent by the 15th, students can bring
in the checks to me on Friday, December 13th and I will deliver them to the
right person!

I still have 3 seats on the bus to Disney that I need to
fill. If there is any student that is still interested or any families that
would like to go, please let me know ASAP. I really need to fill these
seats!!

Those of you going to Disney……we will have ONE rehearsal
before we go. We will be playing Safety Dance so I know everyone knows it and
the guard knows the work. EVERY SINGLE STUDENT MUST BE AT THIS REHEARSAL IF YOU
ARE GOING!!! THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS! Did I make that clear….there is only
ONE rehearsal!

The rehearsal will be Wednesday, February 8th,
2012. Rehearsal will be from 6-8:30pm. After rehearsal, there will be
a meeting for ALL students and their parents regarding the trip. There MUST be
an adult in attendance at the meeting.

Marching Band,

A few changes for this week:

Tuesday, November 22:
6-7pm-only drumline members report. Hour long sectional time and then you stay for band rehearsal. (Robbie, Jon, Dakota, Sami, Emily, Ryan, Josh, Brandon, Aj & Chad)
7-8pm-everyone report for rehearsal. We will be outside!

Saturday, November 26
-Report time is 6am!!!
-Parade line up is 7am downtown.
-Parade steps off at 8am
-Televised coverage begins at 9am on Channel 11
-take a look at the website if you are planning on going down for the parade…..the parade route has changed!

$3500 RAFFLE GOING ON!!!!!!
-If you have not contacted Sherri Hough about picking up your tickets to sell, Sherri will be at rehearsal tomorrow night at 8pm for you to pick them up!!!
-The winning ticket will be for $3500 and based off the lottery on December 31st, 2011
-Tickets are $5.
-$100 will be rewarded to the student who sells the most tickets! The $100 will be placed in the students points account!!

-MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR TICKETS!!!!

Good Morning Marching Band:

First off….CONGRATULATIONS on a great season and a wonderful performance at ACC’s! I could not have been happier with your performance! It was definitely a great way to end the season! Also, CONGRATULATIONS to all the seniors for passing their Senior projects!!!

I hope everyone was able to catch up on some much needed rest this weekend!

We still have a few more events to take care of!!

This Week:
Thursday, November 17th, 2011: Marching Band Rehearsal from 6pm-8:30pm
-This will be a rehearsal to prepare for the Macy’s Christmas parade and it will be a rehearsal for Friday’s tour. So even if you are not going to the Macy’s Christmas parade because of vacation or something, you still need to attend this rehearsal to prepare for Friday’s tour.

Friday, November 18th, 2011: Marching Band Tour of ALL Elizabeth Forward Schools
-The marching band will travel to all the schools and perform their show for all the students.
-We will depart EFHS at 7:30am. Students should report to the AUD when they get off their buses. Middle School students can go right to the middle school as normal. The MS is the first stop on the tour and we can pick you up there.
Schedule for the day:

Friday, November 18th:

-Middle School Performance=8:15am-8:45am
-Central Elementary Performance=9:25am-9:50am
-Greenock Performance=10:30am-11:00am
-Mount Vernon Performance=1:15pm-1:45pm

-William Penn Performance=2:45pm-3:15pm

-students NEED TO BRING A PACKED LUNCH!!!! We will eat at Greenock after we perform.
-Band members need to be in their hoodie and jeans and guard members in their warm-ups.
-As the week goes on, please check the forecast….most of these school we perform outside, so having a few layers on underneath the hoodie and warmups would be ideal.
-We should return to EFHS around 4pm. All students will be able to the ride the 5pm activity bus home from the High School.

Next Week:
Tuesday, November 22, 2011
-Marching band rehearsal from 6-8pm for Holiday Parades. We will be marching outside so please dress warmly!!

Saturday, November 26th, 2011
-Macy’s Holdiay Parade Downtown.
-Report time is 6:15am
We MUST be Downtown by 7am. Parade starts at 8am and the televised broadcast begins at 9am.

Thursday, December 1st, 2011
-Elizabeth Light up night
-Times TBA

Friday, December 2nd, 2011
-Forward Township light up night
-Time TBA
